- There were a lot of layers to peel away, maybe it's more niche than I had anticipated.
- Give him more likable scenes (where he makes others feel good?)
- A moral foundation
Concept Roadmap
Title: I Saw Hell
Genre: Horror Crime
Themes: Responsibility, Change
Setting: A City/ Invercargill (why not?)
Protagonist: The yet unnamed Lawyer
Super-Objective: Wants to save his soul from eternal damnation
Outer-want (external objective): Do what the demon wants him to to get soul out of hell
Inner-need (internal objective): Be a good person
Inner conflict: Wants to be a good person, but his only way to that is by doing evil deeds
External obstacle (or antagonist): Demon, Victims
Inciting Incident: He sees hell, starts being haunted by demon
How does my Protagonist react to this obstacle?: Tries to shift blame
Further complications: Have to figure our how to kill victims

I have trouble placing things into this road map so instead I tried writing it out:
I Saw Hell

A story exploring themes of change and responsibility in a world where good and evil exist but its a difficult line to draw between where one ends and the other starts.
It is is set in a city, following a yet unnamed lawyer who has spent his life living in sin.
He wants to save his soul from eternal damnation after he has an out of body experience during a operation in which he is transported to hell.
He has the need to be a good person, but has spent his entire life living one of deceit and trickery. Upon waking his objective is to find a way to rid himself of the evil entity that has followed him out.
Things are further complicated when the demon starts haunting his family and he has to confront it, at which point he makes a deal with it to trade his soul.
This leads to further complications, placing him directly in the way of other sinners, he fights an internal conflict where he wants to do good but the only way he knows how is one of evil.
Over the series he learns to do good and helps others like himself.
