BSA 204 W12: I Saw Hell 15 Page v. Treatment Act II & III

David is shocked, he fumbles over his words saying that he saw something. This turns to anger, he asks the doctor what happened to him. The doctor says nothing, it was just an overdose, David asks whether there was anything strange about the drugs maybe. The doctor tell him there was nothing off about his surgery, he just died. David asks why, why did he die? The Doctor says it just happens in these types of situations, he was lucky that he survived.

From the other side of the door his brother says he has to come out, they have to talk. What is he doing in there. David says that's another thing, why is his family here, he thought they had a deal. The doctor says he felt the situation was serious enough to warrant an exception. David says that he keeps his secrets so that the doctor can keep his in return. He says if he finds out anything happened during the operating room, it'll be the doctor's head. David leaves and joins his brother, he tells them he's fine, but he's going home. The brother says he's not going home, he's going to come and stay with them until he is detoxed.
David looks past his brother's shoulder and sees the creature waiting in the hall, he accepts this verdict.

The door to a house opens and David, his brother, sister in law and niece step in, the niece is very excited about her uncle living with them now, he reacts to her with pleasant disappointment.
She is sent off to bed by her mum, who gives David a dirty look, the brother asks him to talk in private in the kitchen. He follows him in and his brother asks him if he wants a cup of hot cocoa, he thinks this is silly and declines, his brother says it helps to sleep and starts preparing three cups. David says he just has to put it out there that he appreciates what his brother is doing, but he can't stay - he just doesn't fit into a household like this.
His brother nods and says he knows its strange, but its the only way he's going to rehabilitate, if he was sent to rehab, he'd just slither his way out again.
David says he's not going to rehab either and scoffs, his brother is serious and tells him the situation isn't funny, David almost died. David says that technically he did, he thought the doctor was a bit more competent than that. And since he's been experiencing some weird things, he tells him about the hallucinations and says it must have been the doctor, or his dealer gave him something dodgy-
At this his brother scolds him, telling him that its not the doctor, or anyone else's fault for that matter, he has to learn to take responsibility.
David accepts this as the end of that discussion and says okay, he'll stay, at least he hasn't seen the thing yet.

David is lying in his new bed, he moves around uncomfortably and can't sleep, he looks at the shadows cast by the curtain. It visibly bothers him and he thinks he sees the demon for a split second. He moves his stuff downstairs and lay down on the couch, turning on the TV - where a self-help guru is talking about self-responsibility.
He hears a small voice say 'Uncle David' and turns around to find his niece in her pajamas. She is scared and holding her teddy bear, she says that there is something in her closet. He sarcastically adds that there are things in all our closets, she asks him what he means, he says he just means that he's been seeing some things himself tonight.
He takes her back to her room and starts tucking her in, telling her there's nothing and that he'll show her.
He opens the closet and she stares on in terror, as he opens it he freezes himself. Facing him head on is the demon.

ACT III

He is face to face with the demonic entity and his breathing deepens but he slowly closes the closet door again. He swallows and says maybe they should get her a hot chocolate to help sleep. He prepares her hot chocolate and she sits opposite him, she asks what happened to him to end up in the hospital, her parents said it was because of some bad medicine. He says yeah that's pretty much it, she asks who gave him the bad medicine. He says he doesn't know. She asks him why he had to, was he sick? He pauses and thinks, he says he just wanted some medicine, sometimes it makes you feel better. She says it always makes her feel tired and drowsy. He laughs and hands her the hot chocolate - he says that's what hot chocolate does to him.

He tucks her into the couch and goes to turn off the TV, but she asks if he can keep it on, he nods and leaves her with it. He goes into the hall and thinks for a moment. The sound of the TV echos in the hall, he hears the self-help guru talk about how taking charge of one's own life is the first step to personal success. He moves back up to the girls room, slowly ascending the steps as the TV's sounds get more distant.

He stands in her room and looks at the closet. He asks what it wants. The door creaks open and the creature floats out, he takes a step back. It says that David is going to hell, it says he knows David saw it and it knows David's afraid of it - but he doesn't have to go there, if David does something for it.
