BVA603 W8 : Notes for First Meeting

Notes for first meeting:

We are responsible for a lot of different things during the Think and Create planning and execution:

- Facebook and Instagram accounts
- Traditional Media (The Radio and Newspaper)
- Youtube Account
- Promotion and Distribution of Advertisement

New Page or Old?

Jeryy is the chair person of sorts, I am taking notes - we have to decide whether we use the facebook and instagram pages from last year or create new ones, I've asked the admin from last year if we could have access.

I have gained access and am in the process of adding Luqman and Jerry as Admins as well, I have edited the description to include Gaming students and have erased the previous phone number, replacing it with mine own.

Youtube

We need to make a Youtube account as last year's committee didn't have one made already, here we can upload all the video content we create for social media, as well as trailers and teaser for the films being shown.

New Designs

We will require new designs for the social media pages, this will come from the design team and we will have to communicate with them to sort out a cover image and profile image for the Facebook and Instagram.

As a full committee the deadline for this has been set for Week 10 - until such time we will stick with the designs from last year (as they are already on the social media pages and will help make the transition from last year to this more clear).

We are also planning to show off how good the event was last year and show the winners during this first phase of the marketing strategy, so the old designs are fitting.

Marketing Strategy

We have to meet some time this week again and work out a clear plan for what our timeline will look like. We are to come up with a concise Marketing Strategy by Tuesday next week - we have a very rough one already jotted down:

Phases

The marketing can go through three phases, each fitting with the progress of the event itself and what the rest of the committee has ready or not.

1) Where we came from:

Context: During the period wherein the new designs is not ready and entry forms have not been released.
Content: Video Testimonials from last year's students and attendees bragging about what a superb event Think & Create has proven to be, Videos and Images representing the art exhibited last year, a spotlight on the winners of past years.

This phase reintroduces the public to our event and reminds them how enjoyable and important it is.

2) You can get involved!:

Context: During the period wherein the new designs are implemented and specifically when the applications open up.
Content: Advertise the entry forms and process, show what prizes can be won, spotlight on the judges and a motivational video segment encouraging people to GET INVOLVED!

This phase informs people that they can participate and be rewarded for their efforts as well as teasing the industry connections that can be formed.

3) Where we are Going:

Context: This is during the period just before and during the start of the exhibition.
Content: Teasers and trailers for the upcoming films and artwork installed, a showcase of everything on show in the RAW gallery (on show Week 15) and video interviews of the creative individuals exhibiting their work.

This phase is all about hyping up the audience, teasing what will be shown on the night and encouraging people to get into the RAW gallery and view the art displayed there. It is a phase all about exposure and tempting an audience in to see the films being shown.

Traditional Media

Jacqui said that she could be a great help to us for the traditional media side of things - the radio show and Newspaper articles. We will be using the MC's to present us on the radio anyway, she will probably be a part of that duo.
