BVA 603 W8 : Meet-Up, Minutes and Marketing Strategy



As a sub-committee, we had a meeting today to decide what direction to go with the Think and Create Marketing this year and what parameters we'd be setting for ourselves.

We have a macro and minor plan to consider, what is happening each week of the process, what kind of content are we uploading and what specific posts can we make relevant to what's happening at that moment?

The macro plan is something I've already kinda blocked out earlier in the week, it's dependent on where we are in the project as a whole and very much relies on what other subcommittees have achieved (like the new designs being introduced).

The micro plan is something we have to set up, goals that we can achieve within each week, like a specific number of posts to aim for, with leniency to how many of those are video and how many are photos or just updates.

Minutes:


Got the login for Facebook group from last year’s event, all members made admins. Need to sort out a new Instagram. 


Established roles: Bo is notetaker, Luqman is head of marketing. 


We discussed which stylistic direction to head in with the marketing, whether comedic or played more straight. Luqman suggested that we shouldn’t try and emulate the same tone as the Neon Shrimp social media, what we are trying to tell the public is different. Neon Shrimp was about showing how fun the cast and crew could be 


We came up with a general outline to which our marketing strategy can fit, one with three stages, each relative to what stage of the project we are in, these are: Where We Came From, How to Enter and Where We’re Going..


We discussed what out steps for the first week should be and where we want to end up by Week 10, we have decided on our first Facebook and Instagram posts (that being an announcement for the event for 2019) and we have started working towards the first major piece of video content - a piece on the winners from last year and what they made.


To achieve this we have broken down the steps we have to take to successfully execute this video, we have also decided to divide the work up into segments so that everyone is contributing to the same whole and that no one loses passion for the task at hand.


Enquiries Arising from Minutes


Need to find BTS from Last Year’s event, if this exists.
Need to figure out the Instagram login for last year’s event or create a new one.
We need to come up with questions for the first video and organise the interviews.
Need to prepare a proposal outlining our marketing strategy for the rest of the team.


Meeting started at 1:30, ended at 2:45. Next Meeting Scheduled for 12:00, or 9, Next Tuesday.

I want to prepare a proposal presentation outlining what our marketing strategy will be and show it to the class on Tuesday.
