BSA 325 W7 : SCRIPT & Casting Call

SCRIPT (2019) by Neon Shrimp productions - a third first draft. 20 days to shooting.

I read the script, there is some really good stuff and I enjoyed it, I would shuffle the plot elements around a bit and do what I wrote below, having said that I understand how complicated it is to write and understand that considering the length of the film what Matthew did is perfectly adequate. Everyone makes it more complicated, like I have done below, but no one understands how difficult it is to make something both simple and clean

Someone at a toy factory dies by falling through a third story window, this is covered up as a health and safety violation by the anal artificial intelligence that runs the factory.

Sophie, a dedicated factory worker, believes that there is more to this event and believe the death was not caused by the worker himself, and that he didn't foolishly lean against weak glass, she believes that this is a cover up by the AI and the factory owner, who she believes actually murdered him.

Before his (the deceaseds') death, Sophie had a close relationship with the recently deceased man and he discussed with her the many problems that he sees with the M.U.M system.

At the end the truth is revealed that the man killed himself because of depression, which is a hazard that the computerized system can't pick up on because it doesn't have emotional intelligence. The owner covered up this tragedy because it directly relates to the working conditions at the factory and displays a fault in the system.

The structure is difficult :/

NOTES:

- Sophie checks in to work, goes through little inspection scene 
- Sees working conditions, funny scenes with health and safety and coworkers, death hangs over the factory, she talks to others about her suspicions, but the other workers are mindless and content
- A worker gets removed due to a violation, Sophie disagrees with this 
- Later there is a scene where one of the workers has a little moment displaying that they are not in fact so content and are just using it to cover up their own emotional vulnerability.
